In This Country, Apple Will Add More Payment Options For Dating Apps

In accordance with a Dutch regulator’s decision, Apple will enable third-party payment alternatives for dating applications in the Netherlands.

In accordance with a Dutch regulator’s decision, Apple will enable third-party payment alternatives for dating applications in the Netherlands. This is the first time Apple has made payment choices available outside of the app store. Apple has announced the launch of two optional new entitlements for dating applications in the Netherlands App Store, which will give customers extra payment processing choices.

“Dating app developers who wish to keep utilising Apple’s in-app purchase mechanism may do so without taking any additional action,” Apple stated in a statement.

The move follows recent instructions from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) allowing dating app makers to provide additional payment processing choices with users on the App Store in the nation.

Apple is worried about risks to its privacy.

The firm is worried that these modifications would impair the user experience and introduce new concerns to user privacy and data security, according to the corporation. “In the interim, we’re required to make the needed modifications, which we’re announcing today, and we’ll give further information as soon as possible,” Apple added.

As a result of the change, dating apps in the nation will be able to dodge Apple’s 15-30% fee on in-app sales.

“Because Apple will not have direct knowledge of purchases made through alternative methods, Apple will be unable to assist users with refunds, purchase history, subscription management, and other issues that may arise when purchasing digital goods and services through these alternative purchasing methods.” In a notice to developers on its site, the tech giant cautioned, “You will be accountable for fixing such problems with clients.”

“We have appealed the ACM’s ruling to a higher court because we do not feel these instructions are in our users’ best interests,” Apple added.

The European Union and the US Federal Trade Commission have also launched antitrust probes into Apple’s app store rules. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has launched an antitrust probe into Apple’s App Store business practises in India.
