Making it easier for people to file their income tax returns, the Income Tax Department has released a new feature called ‘Jhatpat Processing’.
The Income Tax Department further notified that the new feature has already been started for ITR-1 and 4 forms and taxpayers can file their ITR by visiting the e-filing website.
“Introducing Jhatpat Processing! File Karo Jhat Se, Processing Hogi Pat Se. Processing started for ITR-1 & 4,” the tax department said on Twitter.
Anyone interested in using the new feature for ITR-1 can get cues from the tutorial video posted by the Income Tax Department on Youtube.

Moreover, in a separate video, the IT department shared a tutorial for ITR-4 forms too. The new feature will make the process of filing ITR easier, according to the tax department.
Eligibility
As per a report, the feature, as of now, is only applicable for the taxpayers whose ITRs are verified and bank accounts are pre-validated. Individuals must note that there should not be any arrears or income discrepancy and there should be no mismatch in TDS or challan.
The last day to file ITR for the financial year 2019-20 (AY 2020-21) is December 31, 2020.

Unlike every year, the date to file ITR filing was extended this year from the usual July 31 to December 31, 2020, owing to the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, for those taxpayers whose accounts need to be audited, the deadline has been extended till January 31, 2021.
