Income Tax Department Recently Warned All The PAN Holders

So many warnings have been already released by Income Tax Departments and several times the deadline has been extended to link PAN-Aadhaar. But, this time the deadline is real and will not be moved further. So, if you don’t link your PAN and Aadhaar this time by March 31, 2023, your PAN Card will become inoperative. If your document becomes inactive it will be just a piece of plastic. We are bringing this up because, recently, the income tax department has released a new warning through a tweet.

“As per the Income Tax Act of 1961, the last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar is 31.3.2023, for all PAN holders who do not fall under the exempt category, failing which the unlinked PAN shall become inoperative. Don’t delay, link today!”, reads the tweet from the Income Tax Department.

As Per CBDT Circular

According to the CBDT’s circular F. No. 370142/14/22-TPL, issued on March 30, 2022, everyone for whom the permanent account number or PAN is produced as of July 1, 2017, and are eligible to have an aadhaar will have to are required to link their PAN with their Aadhaars before March 31, 2023, next year. Moreover, the penalty for not liking your documents is ₹500 and from June 30, 2022, the fine is elevated to ₹1,000.

“If you haven’t linked your Aadhaar card to your PAN card yet and do so after receiving the circular from the Income Tax Department, you will be required to pay a cost of Rs 1000. Furthermore, if you don’t link your Aadhaar and PAN by March 31, 2023, your PAN card will expire and will be of no post-expiry,” mentioned by dnaindia.
