In the last 24 hours, India has recorded 37,593 new Covid-19 Cases and 648 fatalities due to Coronavirus say the Union Health Ministry data. The top five states registering the highest number of Covid cases are Kerala (24,296), Maharashtra (4,355), Tamilnadu (1,585), Karnataka (1,259) and Andhra Pradesh (1,248) cases.
These five states reports about 87 per cent of fresh Covid-19 cases. Out of these five states, Kerala itself registers over 64 per cent of the new cases. Meanwhile, Maharashtra records the maximum fatalities (288) followed by Kerala (173) in 24 hours. With all these, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.67 per cent.
India successfully recovered 34,169 Covid-19 patients which push the total recovery to 3,17,54,281 across the country.

Apart from this, the Chief Scientist of the World Health Organisation Dr Soumya Swaminathan said, “India could have reached some sort of stage of endemicity” in terms of the overall COVID-19 situation. “That’s what seems to be happening.”
She also said that she expects the World Health Organisation to clear Covaxin as one of its authorized vaccines by mid-September. Moreover, he added to her statement that this decision would be taken by an independent assessment committee that will meet in the first 10 days of the month.
