Indian Airforce To Get A Formal Possession of Made In India Combat Helicopters

In the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Indian Airforce is all set to welcome the first ever built-made in India lightweight combat helicopters. With this IAF will get a “big boost” in their “combat prowess”, asserted Rajnath Singh, before heading to Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where these domestically built combat helos will be inducted.

“I would be in Jodhpur, Rajasthan tomorrow, 3rd October, to attend the Induction ceremony of the first indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopters (LCH). The induction of these helicopters will be a big boost to the IAF’s combat prowess. Looking forward to it”, tweeted Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

VR Chaudhari, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal, will be present at the induction site.

Developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), these helicopters are one of the finest combat machines with higher altitude performance ability, boosted agility and speed, manoeuvrability, elevated target range, and heightened attack features. These helos reportedly have “armour protection, night attack capability and crash-worthy landing gear for better survivability.”

On Twitter, the Indian Airforce give us a glimpse of these attack helicopters with the #AtmaNirbharBharat hashtag.

In March this year, “the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had approved the procurement of 15 Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Limited Series Production at the cost of Rs. 3,887 Cr along with Infrastructure sanctions worth Rs. 377 Cr.”

Union Minister, Gajendra Singh also tweeted that reads, “Wonderful to bring in Durgashtami with these helicopters that will greatly boost our IAF’s combat abilities”.

Each helo weighs 5.8 tonnes with twin engine technology and has gone through many firing tests.
