In a boost to its arsenal against terrorists in the Kashmir valley, the Indian Army has started to induct the newly acquired SiG Sauer American assault rifle from today. The first lot containing 10,000 SiG Sauer assault rifles has arrived in India and has sent to Northern Command said a top Indian Army official.

The Army has also started to receive supplies of ammunition for its sniper rifles. The Army placed an order for 21 lakhs rounds of ammunition for the sniper rifles to the vendors.

Anti-terror operations form a major part of Indian Army’s activity in the Kasmir Valley. The infiltration of terrorists across the border by Pakistan requires the army to be equipped with sophisticated weaponry to bring them down.
