In other words, now the passengers can change travel dates without cancelling train tickets. The modification is allowed only once per ticket.
Passengers Can Prepone, Postpone, or Change Boarding/ Destination Station
As per the report, passengers can now prepone, postpone, change boarding station, or destination station. According to the Indian Railways website, ‘Prepone‘ or ‘Postpone‘ can only be done for the same destination or in the higher category.

Passengers can make changes to the boarding station of the journey by applying in writing to the station master of the original boarding station or they can also visit the computerized reservation centre before 24 hours of the train departure. You must know that the feature is available for both offline as well as online booking tickets.
Change In Class Of The Ticket Is Allowed
If passengers want to make changes in the class of their train ticket, then they are required to surrender their ticket at the Reservation Counter at least 48 hours before the actual departure of the train. Then, you will be given an application confirming that you want to change the class of your ticket. Remember that you have to pay the difference in the fare.
