Indian Railways has come up with a very exciting service for its passengers who use local trains. Passengers that use Mumbai Local trains can watch movies, TV shows and other related programs for free without streaming on internet.
‘Content on Demand’ is a new infotainment service launched by Central Railways. It has collaborated with M/s Margo Network Pvt Ltd for providing ‘Content on Demand’ infotainment service through Sugarbox Network mobile app.
Lakhs of people travel in Mumbai local everyday and such a facility would make their journeys entertaining. Mumbai local is considered to be lifeline of Mumbai and people travel for as long as two hours a day. This service will make that journey fun and entertaining.

As per the news, Anil Kumar General Manager at Central Railways has given green signal for this service in 10 of 165 suburban local trains. Railways said that, “Passengers will have to download Sugar Box App on their devices after which they will get an OTP after entering their mobile number to access free entertainment content.”
You would not require an internet connection to stream the movies and you don’t have to pay any charges to watch. This service by Indian Railways entails a bright future as it will develop infrastructure for betterment of services.
RailTel told that each train will be installed with media servers inside coaches of the trains. This will provide buffer free streaming of movies, TV Shows and more. Railway has also signaled that these media servers will also be installed at railway stations with WiFi in future.
