In a major effort to improve passenger convenience, Indian Railways has implemented a new feature that enables commuters to begin their trip from a station prior to their assigned boarding point, as long as a seat is available.
According to rumours, the service will be introduced in the Eastern Railway zone first, and then it will be extended to other zones, such as the West-Central Railway, starting in April.
Under this arrangement, there will be no extra fees for customers who want to board the train from a stop that is ahead of their reserved boarding station.
If a seat is left empty before it reaches Bina, for example, a person who has a confirmed ticket from Bina to Delhi but wants to board from Bhopal may do so.
The Railway Board has instructed General Managers of all railway zones to put this mechanism into place, according to the report, which was also confirmed by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Saurabh Kataria.
New Measures For Ticket Validation
Additionally, new procedures for ticket validation have been implemented. A customer’s ticket will be revoked and their seat will be given to another passenger on the Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) list if they are unable to meet the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) at their assigned boarding point.
The TTE will use a portable terminal device to register missing passengers by the new standards, and the gadget will automatically move the vacant seat to the next person in the queue. The original ticket holder will get a notification before the reallocation.
Passengers Will Now Be Able To Pay Fines Digitally
Additionally, travellers without a valid ticket can now use the TTE’s portable device to scan QR codes to pay their penalties or fines. These steps must be taken to lower ticket fraud and simplify operations for a smooth travel experience.
