Indian Railways Starts Special Trains from Jammu and Udhampur to Delhi

When trouble hits the border, life changes in a moment. Roads get blocked, flights are canceled, and people are left wondering how to get home safely. That’s exactly what happened recently in Jammu and Kashmir, where rising tensions made travel almost impossible for thousands. Indian Railways stepped up to help, launching special trains to keep people moving and families together.

Why Special Trains Are Needed

With airports in Jammu and Srinagar shut down and roads under heavy security, many people were stranded. Students, workers, tourists, and even cricket players needed a way out. The Indian Railways quickly announced three special trains from Jammu and Udhampur to Delhi. These trains are not just about convenience-they’re a lifeline for anyone stuck in the region, offering a safe and reliable way to travel during uncertain times.

Here’s How the Special Trains Are Running

  • The first special train, number 04612, leaves from Jammu at 10:45 in the morning. It has 12 unreserved coaches for those who need to travel urgently and 12 reserved coaches for passengers with tickets. This mix means anyone can board, whether they planned ahead or are escaping at the last minute.
  • The second is a Vande Bharat special train, which is a premium, high-speed service. It departs from Udhampur at 12:45 PM, passing through Jammu and Pathankot before heading to Delhi. With 20 coaches, this train is built for comfort and speed, helping people reach the capital quickly and safely.
  • The third is a fully reserved LHB special train, leaving Jammu at 7:00 PM. With 22 coaches, it’s designed for long-distance travelers who want a confirmed seat and a smooth journey.

Who Is Using These Trains?

It’s not just local residents and workers. After an IPL cricket match in Dharamshala was canceled due to security issues, players, support staff, and even journalists boarded the Vande Bharat special to get to Delhi. Many travelers who had come to the region for work or family visits found these trains to be the only way out, especially with flights grounded and roads under tight control.

Security is at an all-time high. Railway stations in Jammu, Udhampur, and along the route are being closely watched. Police, railway security teams, and even dog squads are making regular checks to keep everyone safe. Blackouts and the threat of attacks have made the situation tense, but the Railways is running its own power grid and has backup diesel engines ready in case of emergencies. Every train is monitored from a special war room at the Railway Board, ensuring quick action if anything goes wrong.

Travelers are advised to check train timings and updates before heading to the station. With the situation changing quickly, Indian Railways is updating information in real time through official channels and the National Train Enquiry System. Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead, stay alert, and follow all instructions from authorities for a smooth and safe journey.

These special trains are more than just a way to travel-they’re a promise that even in the toughest moments, help is on the way. Indian Railways is showing that when the country faces a challenge, it can adapt, respond, and keep people moving. For thousands caught in the middle of a crisis, these trains are a symbol of hope and a reminder that no one is left behind.
