Under Bharat Gaurav Scheme India’s first-ever private train has been flagged off from Coimbatore. Starting this year, Bharat Gaurav Train will promote “India’s rich cultural heritage!” and improve the standard of domestic tourism in India. Stoppages involved in the route of this train are Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Yelahanka, Dharmavaram, Mantralayam Road, and Wadi and will finally end its journey after reaching the holy town of Maharashtra, Shirdi.
Railway Leased Bharat Gaurav Train For 2 Years
Chief Public Relations Officer of Southern Railway, B Guganesan told News Agency ANI, “Railway has leased this train to a service provider for a period of 2 years. The service provider has refurbished the coach seats. At least three trips will be done per month. It has a total of 20 coaches including 1st, 2nd & 3rd class AC coaches and sleeper coaches.”
A Warm-Hearted Welcome
The first batch of passengers boarded the train on Tuesday, they were quite amused by the traditional style welcome presentations which involved colourful folk performances. You can see the videos and photos of the first private rail service inauguration in a tweet below:

The Ministry of Tourism shared a video of the newly refurbished and decorated train and wrote, “First ever Bharat Gaurav Train has been flagged off on Coimbatore North to Sainagar Shirdi route today at 6:00 PM! The train will cover several historical destinations on the route while giving the passengers an insight into the cultural heritage of the country.”
