Instagram may soon launch ‘disappearing message’ feature on its platform. The popular picture-sharing app is testing the same before its rollout. The feature would allow users short-lived messages feature on Instagram, just like Snapchat.
It is expected that the messaging feature might clear the chatbox every time a user exits it. Instagram is working on this feature from quite some time. The revelation of this new feature is done by popular app researcher Jan Manchun Wong. Wong has discovered the new feature by analysing Instagram’s Android app code. TechCrunch also confirmed the same.
Wong also tweeted about the feature explaining how it would work. She said that the feature is still in early development and the Instagram is not testing it externally. When the feature would go live it would make it impossible to reread what was typed there in the past conversations. Further, the chat thread would always be empty when reopened.

Interestingly a couple of years back Instagram rolled out the feature. At that time it allowed users to control how a recipient can view a photo or a video from the Instagram Direct camera.
