There is an essential update about the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) ticket booking system that we like to notify our readers who often book tickets online. Whether you book tickets by visiting a website or through an official app, the IRCTC has now modified its ticket booking process online. Now as it has been made mandatory, the users will have to provide and verify their email ids and phone numbers first before booking tickets online. Without the completion of the verification process, you will not be able to reserve your seats.

These mandatory rules apply to those users who haven’t booked an online ticket since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now Here Are The Steps To Get Your Email ID And Phone Number Verified Before Bookings:
- Visit the official website of IRCTC or open the app to access the ‘Verification Window’.
- On the next page enter your email address and registered mobile number.
- On the screen, you will see two options: verification or edit. If you want to edit any of them then tap on Edit & if not then click on Verification.
- You will receive the OTP on your mobile number if you’re verifying you’re mobile-first, or on email, if you’re verifying your email id.
- The process to verify them both is the same.
- After receiving the OTP submit it and the verification will be completed for the option you have opted for first. Then repeat the process to verify another.

Step To Reserve Your Seat Online After Completing The Verification Process:
- Visit the IRCTC website and log in by entering credentials.
- Fill in the details including the boarding station, destination, date of your trip, etc.
- On the next page, a list of trains with their departure and arrival times will be shown, choose the one which is more convenient for you and then click on the book now option.
- Enter passenger details that are asked one by one.
- Complete the payment transaction. Choose the mode of payment you find suitable.
- After the completion, you will get your booking details on your email id and phone number.
