IRCTC: New Online Ticket Booking Rules To Get The Seat

IRCTC has changed the rules of online ticket bookings. It is important news for all the travellers, especially those who have not travelled in a long time. By the traditional method, you will not be able to get the seats.

Indian Railway is continuously making efforts to make your journey more comfortable. New rules are often introduced and implemented for the benefit of railway passengers. Now one more rule is added to the book. If you always prefer to use the railway as a medium to travel then you should know it. This rule is specially implemented for the users who book tickets online.

IRCTC New Regulation

A new rule is introduced to make your journey safe and comfortable. The passengers who are not using the online ticket booking system for a long time have to go through the process. They now have to first verify their mobile number and email to book the tickets on the IRCTC portal. However, if you are using the regular way to book tickets then it is not necessary to go through this process.

The online ticket booking system is managed by IRCTC under Indian Railways. Travellers can book tickets only by verifying their mobile number and email. Before that, you will need to create online credentials like login IDs and passwords. Only after verifying your email and number, you will get the password.

Why the new regulations are made?

When the railway started the trains just after the corona effects minimize, IRCTC can see the increase in ticket bookings. The daily number of ticket bookings are 8 lakh that are booked by the online system. So railway started the verification process of phone numbers and email. They want to ensure the first and second waves of corona infection and for which the accounts that were inactive before that.

How to verify?

Here are the simple steps to verify:

• Login to the IRCTC portal
• Enter your already registered email and mobile number
• You will see the two options after login: edit and verification
• To change your email and mobile number go to the edit option.
• Then choose verification to verify your mobile number and email
• After verifying both of them one by one. You will receive OTPs for both number and email
• Just submit the OTP for both then the verification will be done.
