With the recent initiative taken by IRCTC, train passengers can now order food via WhatsApp Number. The organisation has made it possible via an intelligent AI-powered chatbot which handles the queries of passengers related to meal orders and e-catering services.
IRCTC Delivering Food Via WhatsApp Chatbot
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is presently delivering food on select routes if passengers order it through this WhatsApp number +91 8750001323.
“WhatsApp communication for e-catering services implemented on selected trains and passengers. Based on customer feedback and suggestions, the company will enable the same on other trains,” reads the Railway’s statement.
“The IRCTC has started e-catering services through a specially developed website www.catering.irctc.co.in as well its e-catering app ‘Food on Track,” further stated.
This entire e-food ordering system is estimated to be implemented in two phases.
“The first phase has already been implemented, Under this, a business WhatsApp number sends a message to the customers booking e-ticket for opting in e-catering services by clicking on www.ecatering.irctc.co.in,” mentioned NDTV.
After this passengers can select and book meals of their choice which are available at upcoming stations on the same route the train is running. The orders will be directly placed at the official e-catering website of IRCTC, which also let us skip the process of downloading and installing the app.
