After the announcement of Facebook’s stake purchasing in Reliance Jio, the firms are up and rolling. The social media giant Facebook invested around Rs, 43,524 crores in Jio’s platforms. The deal had a focus on Reliance Retail’s e-commerce venture JioMart.
Remember we told you that soon you would be able to order Kirana goods using WhatsApp? The testing of it has begun. JioMart has made a debut on Facebook-owned messaging platform WhatsApp. However, the service is available in just 3 cities as a part of the trial.
Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Kalyan are the 3 suburbs of Mumbai where the services have been started. To avail services, one has to send the ‘Hi’ message on WhatsApp to JioMart’s number 8850008000. After this, a link would come in the message. The link would redirect you to fill the details like name and address before proceeding to an online grocery marketplace. The link would be active for 30 minutes only.
After the form filling, there is a general user interface. Users can buy products from the displayed catalog. However, due to lockdown, only essential items are listed. After the order is placed, details are shared with the grocery store on WhatsApp. Meanwhile, the customer is also notified of the order and the store details on WhatsApp. A link redirecting to the store location is sent to users.
Another message is received by the user when the retailer is ready with the order. There is an option where the user can pay at the shop and pick up the order or can opt for home delivery. JioMart which would compete with BigBasket and Grofers would soon provide over 50, 000 products from groceries store to the users.
