With the launch of JioTele OS, a new operating system made just for smart TVs, Jio is growing its digital environment. The platform will offer 4K performance, access to local and international content, and AI-driven content suggestions.
Jio estimates that 35 million TV households in India are connected, however many customers encounter issues including limited personalisation and restricted access to local content. However, the business hopes to solve these problems with the new JioTele OS by emphasising accessibility and diversity of content.
“JioTele OS wants to revolutionise Indian homes by providing a cost-effective, high-end, and content-rich Smart TV platform. According to Jio, it provides AI-powered suggestions, smooth integration of regional and international content, compatibility with popular applications, and frequent upgrades. “Building on this strong foundation, Jio unveils JioTele OS, a next-generation platform crafted to redefine the entertainment experience while catering to the needs of Indian consumers,” it stated.
The new JioTele OS is said to offer a structured UI with AI-powered suggestions and compatibility for many entertainment sources, and it incorporates a variety of entertainment alternatives. This new OS has several important features, such as:
- AI-powered content suggestions: To assist users in locating material of interest, JioTele OS will include AI-backed content recommendations. Although Jio has not revealed the precise method, it is anticipated that suggestions will be made using information such as trending content and viewing history.
- Support for 4K performance: JioTele OS is designed for fast performance, thus even when streaming in 4K, customers won’t encounter any latency. Actual performance, however, can differ based on each smart TV’s unique hardware specs.
- Integration of cloud gaming, TV channels, and OTT: JioTele OS will give consumers access to a variety of cloud-based gaming services, live TV channels, and OTT platforms.
- Unified remote control: JioTele OS would allow customers to utilise a single remote to choose between cloud gaming, OTT applications, and TV stations.
Regular software upgrades, including as security fixes and support for new apps, will be provided to JioTele OS.
Availability of JioTele OS
In India, JioTele OS will launch on February 21, 2025. Jio has partnered with several businesses, and the operating system will be compatible with smart TVs made by top producers including Thomson, Kodak, BPL, and JVC. In the upcoming months, the business has also stated that additional manufacturers would utilise JioTele OS, giving customers more alternatives.
