The world has its own pallet of secrets. Secrets that we haven’t unfolded yet and secrets that we have. One that falls in the latter list is General Sherman, which is also known to be the largest tree on the earth.
Besides being the largest tree, General Sherman is also the “largest living thing on the planet”. The 2000 years old tree is 83.8 meters tall and is a marvel worth beholding.

The tree stands erect in a Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park in Tulare County of California, US. The giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) tree is 25-ft in diameter and about 52,500 cubic feet (1,487 cubic meters) in volume.
The tree, back in 1879 was named after the American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman. However, later it was renamed Karl Marx after the region where the tree stands came under the control of Kaweah Colony. Then in the year 1892, the community was dissolved and the tree regained its previous name.

The tree has become a famous tourist spot, which is visited by thousands of people who click amazing pictures of the same.
