Kanwar Yatra 2025: Week-Long School Closures Announced Across Several States

With the annual Kanwar Yatra underway, the administration in Ghaziabad has announced a holiday for all educational institutions. Starting from July 17 through July 23, primary, upper primary, and secondary schools—including those affiliated with CBSE and ICSE—will remain closed. This closure extends to institutions under the districts’ technical, higher education, Madrasa, and Sanskrit boards.

In addition to Ghaziabad, students in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar districts up to colleges, both government and private, will also receive a week-long break from July 16 to July 23. Local authorities made this decision as millions of devotees participating in the Kanwar Yatra fill the streets, leading to heavy traffic and increased security concerns.

  • Affected districts: Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh)
  • Holiday dates: July 16 or 17 to July 23
  • Institutions affected: All government, private, and technical educational facilities

Students are encouraged to switch to online classes or alternative learning methods as physical campuses remain closed.
