Kenyan Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge scripted history on Saturday by becoming the 1st man to run a marathon under 2 hours. The world record holder completed the run in one hour 59:40 minutes.

However, this historic effort went in vain as the IAAF ( International Association of Athletics Federations ) didn’t recognize the remarkable record.

As per IAAF, the run can’t be counted as an official record because it was not in open competition and used in and out pacemakers. The President of IAAF Sebastian Coe however, welcomed the record attempt.
