Swapna Suresh, one of the key accused of the Kerala Gold Smuggling case has made shocking revelations as per the custom’s chief.
Swapna’s Shocking Revelations
The shocking revelations made by Swapna Suresh in the gold smuggling case are likely to bring political turmoil in Kerala. During her ‘shocking revelations’, she has claimed that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Assembly Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan, and three state ministers are also involved in the case.
As per the statement submitted to the Kerala High court, Swapna has stated about close connections between the chief minister and the previous Consul General of UAE regarding illegal monetary transactions. Customs Commissioner Sumit Kumar has told the Kerala high court about Swapna’s revelations.
Swapna Suresh Gives Statement
Swapna says, “Following the life threat, I approached the court which recorded my statement. I have also sought protection which will be considered soon. I revealed the involvement of Principal Secretary Sivasankar, Chief Minister, his wife Kamala, his daughter Reena, his office secretary CM Raveendran, bureaucrat Nalani Netto, and former Minister K T Jaleel. I have given a detailed statement regarding the involvement and what they did at the court. The court has recorded my statement,”
She further says, “As my statement is to be used for the investigation, I cannot reveal everything now. When the situation and time permits, I will reveal everything,”. As per the investigation officer, Swapna has confessed that she is a witness to all the illegal transactions as she was compelled to be the translator between the accused and the people of Middle East origin because of her fluency in the Arabic language.
Kerala Gold Smuggling Case
Kerala gold smuggling case is all about the smuggling of over 167 kg of gold which was smuggled to the Consulate General of UAE between November 2019 to June 2020. The racket was unveiled in July 2021 when 30 kg of gold was seized by custom officials from diplomatic baggage of the UAE consulate in Thiruvananthapuram.15 people have been arrested in the case to date.
