The BattleGrounds Mobile India ,BGMI is now banned in India. It was released as a revised version of the PUBG mobile games which were banned in India. Google and Krafton have issued statements about the same.
Why Is BGMI Banned In India?
The BattleGrounds Mobile India, popularly known as the BGIM has been officially banned. It was removed from Google Play Store and Apple App Store on July 28, 2022. It was a renovated version of the PUBG Mobile games which were banned by the Government of India in 2020.PUBG ban was a part of a government initiative that aimed at banning several Chinese mobile applications which were considered a “threat to India’s security.”
More About BGMI Ban
There is no such particular reason given for the ban. The most likely reason could be the harmful impact on the minds of youngsters who spend most of their time gaming. This is also related to a shocking case in which a 17-year-old shot and killed his mother over PUBG. The case was from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar stated that PUBG was banned in India in 2020, but banned apps have been resurfacing in new avatars. This was a clear reference to BGMI, which launched as a new version of PUBG Mobile except for a few disturbing elements.
Statement of Google and Karfton on The Ban
The statement from Google read, “On receipt of the order, following established process, we have notified the affected developer and have blocked access to the app that remained available on the Play Store in India.” Karfton said, “we are clarifying how BGMI was removed from Google Play and will let you know once we get specific information.”Krafton is a South Korean company that develops and distributes video games based in Bundang-gu, Seongnam.
