Under the Aadhaar Act 2016, UIDAI is responsible for producing, issuing, enrolling, and managing Aadhaar Card operations till the complete cycle. Aadhaar Card carries a 12-digit unique identification code enrolled to every Indian to serve as its residence proof and identity proof. This ID is linked to almost every other document like PAN, Passport, etc. and to all services provided by the Government.
Need To Have A Softcopy of Aadhaar
Many of us have a hard copy of our Aadhaar Card at home in our document file or in wallets or purses. Being a very sensitive information-carrying document you will not be pleased if your original hard copy gets lost. So, the best option is to download and have a softcopy of your Aadhaar on your phone and keep your original safe at home.
How To Download Aadhaar Card On Your Phone:
- Visit UIDAI’s official website.
- Select the download option ‘Download Electronic Copy of Your Aadhaar’.
- Then chose ‘Aadhaar Number’ and enter your 12-digit unique ID
- Then for a masked Aadhaar click, ‘I want a Masked Aadhaar’.
- Now go for an OTP verification process, the OTP will come on your registered mobile number
- After receiving enter the OTP and click ‘Submit’
- PDF will be downloaded as the last step and enter a four-digit DOB number to open it.
Aadhaar Card Related Corrections
On the other hand, if a person finds that his or her details are mentioned incorrectly on the Aadhaar Card then the corrections should be made as soon as possible to prevent disruption in availing Government services.

How To Make Aadhaar Related Corrections:
- The official website of UIDAI will help you.
- After opening the site, download the Aadhaar Enrolment Form.
- Fill in the form and provide all the details correctly.
- Now visit the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre and submit the form.
- Whatever the correction you want, just tell them, for example, if a photo needs to be changed then they will click a new one at the same time.
- Now you will have to pay the applicable charges, for photo correction it is Rs 100 along with GST.
- After this process, you will get an acknowledgement slip and an Update Request Number (URN).
- With the given URN you can track the status of your correction request.
