Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapor’s Laal Singh Chaddha were released on August 11 in the domestic market. The movie is a Hindi remake of Forrest Gump, released in 1994, and directed by Robert Zemeckis. This film despite getting positive reviews from the critics became a flop after being hunted by boycott trends. Thus, Aamir Khan’s movie failed to trend at the box office of the country. But, now as per reports, Laal Singh Chaddha is breaking records in the International Market.
Laal Singh Chaddha Highest Grossing Hindi Movie of 2022
As per Bollywood Hungama, Laal Singh Chaddha has surpassed Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and has claimed the title of being the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 in the International Market, till now. As per the stats, Gangubai Kathiawadi had collected $7.47 million from the International Market. On the other hand, Advait Chandan’s directorial has earned $7.5 million, or 59 Cr from the International Market. These two movies have surpassed Kartik Aryan’s Bhool Bhulaiya 2 with $5.88 million and The Kashmir Files with $5.7 million. However, the top position, so far, has been claimed by Telugu blockbuster RRR with a collection of $20 million from the Global Market.
“For the unversed, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt in the lead was released in February this year. The Kashmir Files hit theatres almost a month after that whereas Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was released on May 20.”
Domestic Stats
So far in the domestic market, Laal Singh Chadda has earned around ₹59 Cr. The situation of the film at the domestic box office has left Aamir Khan heartbroken. “Aamir had worked really hard to make the best version of Forrest Gump possible. The rejection has hit him very hard,” a friend of Aamir told Bollywood Hungama.
