After the PAN (Permanent Account Number) and Aadhaar card linking its now time for Voter ID and Aadhaar link up. The central government is set to make legal changes in this regard.
As per reports government would grant Election Commission of India (ECI) the required legal powers to proceed soon. Recently the Chief election commissioner Sunil Arora and the two other election commissioners, met legislative affairs secretary additional secretary to discuss pending electoral reforms.
To implement Aadhaar and Voter ID linking an amendment to the Representation of the People Act, 1951 would have to be carried out. ECI’s larger objective behind the move is ridding the electoral roll of all discrepancies

Going further ECI is looking to explore blockchain technology to allow domestic migrant workers to vote from anywhere in the country. At present over 40 proposals of electoral reforms are pending which are to be discussed for implementation.
