With the surge in the Covid-19 cases, Delhi Government has announced a complete Delhi lockdown from tonight till next Monday. The decision is made to arrest the rising cases of the Covid-19 disease as per the officials. The announcement comes after Delhi’s Chief Minister Kejriwal and Lieutenant governor Anil Baijal held a meeting with senior government officers in regards to the Covid-19 situation in Delhi. Delhi is among the worst-hit cities in India. Earlier, the state went under a weekend curfew and a night curfew restrictions, and now the officials have announced to impose a week lockdown in Delhi.

On Sunday, Delhi recorded the highest jump in its daily Covid-19 cases with 25,462 new cases. The positivity rate is up to 29.74 per cent which is nearly every third sample being tested in the city is found corona positive. Amid this, On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said “the Capital is facing an “acute shortage” of oxygen for Covid-19 patients and called for the Centre’s help.” The chief minister’s statement came after he wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi looking for his help with immediate oxygen supply and hospital beds.
