The Maharashtra CID on Wednesday barged into the residence of the Republic TV Anchor, Arnab Goswami, and detained him in relation to the 2018 suicide case of interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik.

The Home Minister of Maharashtra, Anil Deshmukh, took on Twitter to write that he is ordering a CDI re-investigation in the case after, Adnya Naik, daughter of Anvay Naik, complained to the police that a non-payment of dues angle in the 2018 case has not been properly investigated.
She, as per Deshmukh, had alleged that the non-repayment of dues eventually “drove her entrepreneur father & grandmom to suicide in May 2018.” The CID investigation into the case was announced in May 2020 by Anil Deshmukh.

To note is the fact that the re-opening of the case comes amidst the ongoing war of words between the Shiv Sena government and the Republic TV.
Over the days, being its authoritarian self, the Shiv Sena administration has gone behind anyone who has tried to question the government on the Sushant Singh Rajput death case including Kangana Ranaut.
Alibaug case
As far as the Alibaug case is concerned, the same goes back to 2018 when a 53-year-old interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik died by suicide in Alibaug in May 2018.
They, however, left a suicide note purportedly written by Anvay in which he said that Goswami and two others had not paid him ₹5.40 crore which led to his financial constraints.
Meanwhile, many people echo the same thought that the Maharashtra government is misusing its power to go against Arnab Goswami for targeting Mumbai Police and Shiv Sena in Sushant’s suicide case.

Republic TV, as the allegations were made, had quashed the same and attributed this to “malicious campaign”. It had claimed that all amounts due and payable under the contract were paid by Republic TV to Concorde Designs.
