Most of you must have heard Amitabh Bachchan’s voice as your caller tune and we are sure most of you are also sick and tired of hearing the same over and over again.
One such person has filed a Public interest litigation (PIL) in the Delhi High Court seeking removal of the coronavirus awareness caller tune in the voice of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan.
The petitioner named Rakesh, a social activist, sought advocates AK Dubey and Pawan Kumar to file the PIL and questioned the selection of the actor to be the voice of the caller tune.

The PIL reads that the government of India has been paying Amitabh Bachchan handsomely while on the other hand, corona-warriors are being denied even basic things like salary, clothing and shelter. Recently, the nurses at AIIMS have called an indefinite strike due to a lack of clarity of their salary structure under the Sixth Pay Commission among other demands.
“It is very indispensable to mention herein that some corona warriors have distributed their hard earning among the poor and needy people. These famous corona warriors are ready to give their service without any payment and they are ready to serve the nation with the great welfare service,” it said.

Earlier, an audio clip of a man had gone viral where he expressed his disapproval of Amitabh Bachchan urging people to follow COVID rules in the caller tune. He had said that how can a person who had had a history of being infected with coronavirus can advise others on the same?
“The petitioner has made the representation before the respondent on November 24, 2020, but the respondent has not replied or addressed the grievance of the petitioner in any manner,” the plea added.

The petitioner alleges that there have been instances when Mr. Bachchan has himself violated COVID rules. He adds that Bachchan charging money for lending his voice is no social cause.
