German Chancellor Angela Merkel who is on a 3-day visit to India expressed her concerns over the situation in Kashmir saying that the current situation in the valley is not sustainable.

Merkel said that, “The situation now for the people (in Kashmir) is not good and not sustainable. This has to be improved for sure”. She further said that the lockdown of the region can’t be supported for long.

Earlier in the day yesterday, both India and Germany agreed to work on bilateral and multilateral platforms to counter-terrorism and extremism.
