Showcasing the future of storage solutions to the world tech giant Microsoft successfully archive and retrieve 1978 ‘Superman’ movie on a piece of glass. Microsoft partnered with Warner Bros for this experiment.

The experiment was a part of Microsoft’s Project Silica which is an ambitious project to leverage the recent discovering in the field of laser optics and artificial intelligence to store data on a glass. As a part of the experiment, Microsoft stored the movie in quartz glass measuring 75x75x 2mm.

The quartz silica glass used in the experiment can survive being boiled in hot water and even bakes in an oven or microwaved said Microsoft.
