In an incident that shows how deep has, the communal hatred penetrated the society a lawyer was beaten by police. The incident has come to light from Betul, in Madhya Pradesh (MP). A group of MP Police personnel beated the lawyer mistaking his religion.
The police who later apologized said that they beat the lawyer named Deepak Bundele mistaking his religion to be Muslim. Deepak who is an acute diabetic and blood pressure patient was going to the hospital to get some medicines. On his way, he was stopped and beaten by police for defying the lockdown.
This happened in spite of the fact that movement for medical cases is allowed under lockdown. Deepak meanwhile filed an FIR against the police personnel. Though the incident is from the 23rd March the police is now persuading him to take a complaint back. And doing so they told Deepak why they beated him.
“I told them that they should act within constitutional limits and that I was ready to be detained under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code if the police thought so. On hearing this, the police personnel lost their temper and started abusing me and the Indian constitution. Within no time, many police officials came and started beating me up with sticks“, said Deepak.

What the incident brings out is a dangerous fact. The one that police is discriminating with people on communal lines. While the other things is their insensitiveness and habit of not listening to the civilians.
