New Entry Rules at New Delhi Railway Station: Tickets Now Mandatory
Every day, lakhs of passengers pass through New Delhi Railway Station, making it one of the busiest transit points in the country. With so many people traveling, as well as others arriving just to drop off or receive relatives, the crowd often becomes difficult to manage. To improve passenger safety and ease congestion, the Railways has introduced new security regulations at the station.
No Entry Without a Ticket or Platform Pass
From now on, no one will be allowed inside New Delhi Railway Station premises without showing a valid ticket. This means that even those who come only to accompany relatives will need to purchase a platform ticket before entering. The move aims to cut down on unnecessary gatherings within the station and maintain a more secure environment for actual travelers.
Passengers trying to enter without either a journey ticket or a platform ticket risk being fined if caught. By limiting access to only genuine commuters and their companions with valid passes, the Railways hopes to control overcrowding and strengthen on-ground security.
Trial Run to Regulate Unreserved Coaches
Along with the entry restrictions, the Railways has also launched a trial program to manage the swelling rush in unreserved compartments. Under this system, only 150 tickets per unreserved coach will be issued from the originating station. At the stations along the route, only up to 20% of the total capacity will be sold.
For example, if a train starts with four unreserved coaches, a maximum of 600 tickets can be issued from its starting point. The rest will be carefully distributed at intermediate stations. This one-month trial is designed to evaluate crowd control, especially ahead of the festive season when passenger numbers rise significantly. If the experiment shows positive results, the model may soon be implemented in other parts of the country as well.
