As the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2022 are over, the government of India has now started to extend the date for the free ration card scheme. This free ration scheme named ‘Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana‘ is now to be in effect till September 2022. And right after then, the Uttar Pradesh government has also taken the initiative to extend the date for a similar scheme by three months.
The ration card provided by the Government is the most essential document through which we can avail the benefit of the free ration scheme. As per the reports, there are some new rules yet to be applied by the Department of Food and Public Distribution.
New Eligibility Limit
According to the Media, The Department of Food and Public Distribution is soon going to hold a meeting with other states to discuss the variations in Ration card eligibility. After this decision, existing cardholders and new ones will be affected by the new standard limits that will be set for eligibility.
As per available online information, over 80 Cr people are getting the benefits under National Food Security Act (NSFA). But many are getting the benefits of free ration schemes and they don’t even need it. They are financially stable but still, they are using the free ration services. And the new rules may be implemented by taking this factor in mind to protect the needy people so that they can get free ration services.
