Athletics wear brand Nike has said that it will stop selling its clothing and sneakers directly on Amazon to boost direct and personal relationships with its customers. The pullback by Nike certainly ends the Pilot project that started in 2017. “As part of Nike’s focus on elevating consumer experiences through more direct, personal relationships, we have made the decision to complete our current pilot with Amazon Retail,” Nike said in a statement to Bloomberg.

During the entirety of the pilot project, Amazon purchased Nike products like sneakers and apparel directly from Nike. This Nike believed would help it thwart the possibility of fake Nike products being sold on the E-commerce website. However, it noted nothing of that sort. Amazon has supposedly been preparing for the break, by developing a network of third-party sellers
