The region of Jammu and Kashmir would continue to manage with low-speed internet. The Supreme Court has refused to give a decision on the matter on Monday. Hearing the matter of 4G restoration in the Union Territory the apex court called for a panel.
The court has ordered setting up of a high-powered committee headed by MHA Secretary. A bench comprising of justices N V Ramana, Justices R Subhash Reddy, and B R Gavai heard the matter and called for the panel on Monday.
The high-powered committee would also include the Chief Secretary of the UT and the secretary of the ministry of communications said the court. The Internet services in J-K are suspended since August last year after the abrogation of Article 370. The right to the internet is an element of the freedom of speech as per the Supreme Court’s earlier verdict.

However, the affidavit filed by the government counters this view. It also says that integrity and sovereignty are limited restrictions on the fundamental right.
