The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which provides Aadhaar IDs, charges Rs 50 for any change to a cardholder’s documentation. However, UIDAI is now running an exclusive offer window in which Aadhaar Card members may obtain free updates. The free aadhaar updation is a three-month free period that began on March 15 and will end on June 14.
To make modifications to a user’s data relating to their 12-digit unique identification number, the UIDAI levies a cost of Rs 50. Users who want to update their data, such as Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA), especially if their Aadhaar ID was issued more than ten years ago, can do so simply and for free till June 14.
It should be noted that the free UIDAI service is only available online at the MyAadhaar portal. Cardholders would still have to pay the Rs 50 cost to get their papers updated at physical Aadhaar facilities. The change is intended to “improve the ease of living, improve service delivery,” and “increase the authentication success rate.”
