After social distancing became a mockery outside liquor shops in the past 2 days strict actions have come. Mumbai, where the cases are rising rapidly, has decided to shut all the liquor shops in the city.
Mumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to let only essential services function in the city from Wednesday. Now, only groceries, medical/ chemist shops will be allowed to be opened in the city. Mumbai is the hot center of COVID-19 in Maharashtra (Which is a hotbed in India). 9,945 cases and around 387 deaths have been reported in Mumbai alone.
Meanwhile, Punjab has got an innovative way out. While all the things are delivered at doorstep why liquor? The state has provided for the doorstep delivery of liquor so that the thirst of the drinkers are quenched and overcrowding is avoided. The home delivery of liquor will be done between 1 pm to 6 pm from May 6.

The idea of online delivery is quite a good one considering the present situation. Since states can’t go without revenue from liquor at this crunch time home delivery can serve the purpose. What’s surprising is that even a 50% to 70% hike in liquor price couldn’t affect the long gathering outside shops.
