There is some really good news for those who travel by train. Indian Railways has recently launched the online ticket cancellation feature for tickets bought at the railway counter. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced this move, stating that travellers will no longer have to visit the station to cancel their tickets. By taking this action, thousands of rail travellers nationwide will save time and effort.
According to Minister Vaishnav, passengers would find this option to be quite handy. Cancelling a counter ticket used to require going to the station, but these days, one may do it from the comfort of their own home. Passengers will need to utilise the IRCTC website or mobile app in order to cancel online. Entering the ticket’s PNR number and other required data is required for this. The reimbursement procedure will also be finished online upon cancellation. The travellers will save time and effort with this new facility.
How To Cancel Offline Tickets Online
Passengers who purchase physical tickets at the ticket counter can now cancel them online by going to the IRCTC website or by phoning 139, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s announcement on Friday. To receive a refund, they will still need to visit the reservation centre. Medha Vishram Kulkarni, a BJP MP, brought up this matter. She had enquired as to whether customers who bought waiting tickets at the counter rather than online had go to the station prior to the train’s departure to cancel them.
According to him, PRS counter tickets may normally be cancelled online via the IRCTC website or by phoning 139 within the allotted time frame. The Railway Passengers (Ticket Cancellation and Refund of Fare) Rules of 2015 include this information. As previously stated, the original PRS counter ticket must be turned in at the reservation counter to get a refund.
