While ‘social distancing’ has become the norm amid COVID-19 cab aggregator ‘Ola‘ has taken a step in the direction. The popular cab aggregator has suspended its ‘ shared rides ‘. The suspension is though temporary.
“In our efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, we are temporarily suspending the ‘Ola Share’ category until further notice,” read an official statement from Ola. The announcement was made on Friday. Shared ‘ride’ is one of the popular features of Ola. It allows users on the same route to share a ride with a reduction in fare as compared to ‘solo ride’.
Ola says that the action is taken in order to encourage social distancing and only essential travel among citizens. As of now, the deadly COVID-19 has taken over 10,000 lives across the globe. The number of affected is also closing in on 3 lakhs. Close to 1 lakh people have recovered from COVID-19 globally.

Meanwhile, Ola would continue to provide micro, mini, and prime as well as rental and outstation services rides.
