Twitter the other day was flooded with tweets under #NoBraDay to raise awareness about breast cancer. The concept originated in Canada in 2011 when a plastic surgeon started BRA (Breast Reconstruction Awareness) Day.
Ever since, women go without a bra for a day on October 13, which is also celebrated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the US. The day also aims to encourage women for self-examination of breasts besides encouraging them to opt for timely breast screenings, which could help in early detection of the same.

Breast Cancer is the most common type of cancer among women with over 1,62,468 new breast cancer cases and 87,090 deaths reported in India, in 2018 alone.
