The Northern Railways has made some key and significant adjustments and changes and reduced a few regulations to ease and streamline the difficult process of changing names on a reserved train ticket.
Currently, Railway officials are allowed to accept applications and check various necessary and important documents and change the name of the traveler at every station of northern railways. The northern railways include major stations like Prayagraj Sangam and many smaller stations like Phaphamau and Phulpur in Prayagraj under its jurisdiction. The officials also added that there will be regular checks to ensure that middlemen do not profit from these relaxations provided by the Indian Railways.
According to the new regulations, if any person requests a name change, it can be changed within 24 hours of booking the confirmed ticket. The name change facility of changing a family member’s name was implemented a long time but several new changes came into action and this was confirmed by northern railways authorities.
The railways have also provided special directives and instructions to the government departments that any police or administrative personnel, workers traveling on government business or duty, students at a school or college, or anybody else for that matter can make the changes as per the new regulations by northern railways. It will now be simpler to change the name on the reservation ticket for the trains without having to cancel it and rebook the ticket.
Rekha Sharma, the senior divisional commercial manager of northern railways, Lucknow said in her statement that the chief reservation supervisor and reservation supervisor in charge can also get the name changed at stations even where there are no gazetted officers. If the passenger is a government servant and the appropriate authority requests in writing 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, that the reservation made in the name of the government servant be transferred to another government servant on duty, it will also be changed.
The same can also be done if the passenger requests in writing 24 hours before the train’s scheduled departure that the reservation made in his name be transferred to any other family member, such as his father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband, or wife. His request will be granted.
