EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) has come up with a big update for its users. In a recently issued notification EPFO has said that it would accept Aadhaar as proof of birth. The announcement was made on Sunday by the Central Ministry of Labour in this regard.
Now, EPFO would allow Aadhaar card as a valid proof to rectify their date of birth. DOB verification is done to ensure that the account is KYC compliant. As the COVID-19 lockdown is their this service would be available online.

As per the official notification, ‘the date of birth recorded in Aadhaar will now be accepted as valid proof of date of birth for the purpose of rectification, provided that the difference in the two dates is less than 3 years’. This would help EPFO to validate members instantaneously with less processing time.
Earlier, the EPFO allowed its subscribers to withdraw 3 months’ basic pay and dearness allowance as a non-refundable advance on the ground of COVID-19 lockdown from March 28, 2020.
