The lockdown has disturbed the supply cycle of major players like ‘Big Basket‘ and ‘Grofers‘. This provided an apt opportunity for ‘Zomato’ to roll out its services. Zomato which has its food delivery network can use it for deliveries. Since take away is allowed from restaurants ‘Zomato riders’ are active across India.
However, as of now, the service is available in Delhi, Kerala, and Punjab only. Zomato has made no official word about it. The first revelations about it was made by Shashi Tharoor. Tharoor tweeted about Zomato’s Market service in Kerala. Users, however, can place the orders through the app in the 3 regions. The maximum weight for grocery delivery is 12 kg per order. As for minimum delivery, the order has to reach Rs 300. The process otherwise is similar to ordering food on Zomato. Zomato’s rival Swiggy already launch such services last year in select cities.
