The California-headquartered ride-sharing firm Uber has announced its collaboration with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to let users book public transport tickets from within the app using a feature called Public Transport.
Public transport is live on the Uber app, however, as of now can only be used to plan your journey. The ability to book Delhi Metro tickets via the Uber app is currently under development.
Metro Ticket Booking Feature
The feature, once rolled-out, will let users book tickets of Delhi Metro transport from its app across 210 metro stations under DMRC. Uber has won a competitive win that led to the collaboration between the government and private firms.
As of now, the Uber app has the new Public Transport mode, which lets users plan their journey. When you search for a particular location on the Uber app, the feature will display the cheapest and fastest route to that destination as well as public transportation options, like buses and metros, going in that direction.

The metro rail and Uber are in discussion to integrate the Metro rail into Uber by constructing pick-up and drop-off areas for Uber Go, Pool, Moto, Auto, and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAV), in ‘model Metro stations’, similar to airports.
