As of tomorrow, April 1, people who have old vehicles in Delhi will no longer be permitted to drive them. The Delhi government’s announcement of an old car, no fuel regulation is the reason behind this.
Now, if you attempt to fill up your old automobile, the gas stations will use a specific kind of camera to scan it, and you may be subject to a significant fine. Which automobiles would be subject to this restriction, then? How will gas pumps scan your old car? Here, let’s know.
Delhi Old Cars No Fuel Rule
The state’s government has made the decision to refuse gasoline to vehicles that are overage. According to reports, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras will be installed at gas stations around the city beginning tomorrow, April 1, in order to promote this campaign.
Vehicles exceeding the National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) age restrictions will be identified with the use of these ANPR cameras. As a result, gas shops or pumps will not fill up these kinds of cars.
According to reports, the government wants to improve compliance by prohibiting older vehicles from obtaining petrol at licensed stations around Delhi.
Vehicles Falling Under The Rule
The NGT’s order states that this ban applies to petrol cars that are more than 15 years old and diesel vehicles that are more than 10 years old.
“To reduce vehicular pollution, devices are being installed at fuel stations throughout the city to identify such vehicles, and these cars will be denied fuel,” Environment Minister Manjinder Sirsa stated on Friday, according to the reports.
According to Sirsa, the cameras scan and digitise license plates in real time. Release necessitates the owner’s consent and a fine of Rs 5,000 for a two-wheeler and Rs 10,000 for a vehicle. According to reports, if the automobile is discovered operating on the road again, it will be transported to a scrapyard.
