Omicron variant of corona virus is being studied by experts all across the world. The variant is spreading with remarkable speed and reported in 77 countries. According to WHO, it is spreading at much higher pace than any other strain.
According to scientists, the variant is predominantly resistant to existing vaccines. The symptoms caused by Omicron are less severe as compared to previous strains. The need of booster shots is currently studied by the experts after seeing current events in development of the disease.
Symptoms
One common symptom is seen in every patient infected with Omicron: Scratch Throat.
Symptoms caused by the strain are mild in nature but virus is not any less virulent.
People should also look for symptoms like sore throat, myalgia, stuffy nose and loose stools.
Omicron Cases in India
As per yesterday the total number of Omicron cases reached 153.
11 states and UT have reported Omicron cases. Maharashtra has seen 54 cases, Rajasthan 17 cases, Delhi 22 cases, Karnataka 14 cases, Gujarat and Kerala 11 cases, Telangana 20 cases and one case each in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Chandigarh.
Total number of Covid-19 cases reached 3,47,40,275 in India on Sunday. Total number of active cases is 83,913 which is lowest in past 570 days. Daily rise in fresh cases of the infection is under 15,000 in last 52 days.
