In a shocking and shaming kind of a scam that has surfaced into the public domain after the review meeting of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) headed by the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal over 3 lakh ghost students were found to be listed in government school during the congress regime in the state.
In the meeting enrollment figure for 2016-17 and 2018-19 were compared for class 1 to class 12 of all government and provincialized schools. During the comparison, it was found that more than 3 lakh 12 thousand students were ghost children that were registered during the previous state government regime.
It is alleged that the previous Congress government had shown the fake figures of ghost children in government schools for embezzlement of public money in the name of textbooks, mid-day meals, uniforms, etc.
