A painting found in the kitchen of an old French lady has made her a millionaire overnight. The women used to consider the painting as of less importance and didn’t knew that it was an ancient art piece. The artwork was sold in an auction for around 2.6 crores.

It is found that the painting date backs to the 13th Century and is crafted by famous Italian painter Cenni di Pepo commonly known as Cimabue. The auction of the painting also set a record in itself.
The sale of the painting was a “world record for a primitive or a pre-1500 work.” The Italian painter was known as the Father of the renaissance and was an important figure of the 13th century Europe. Thus, the painting carried significant importance.
The painting was spotted by an auctioneer at the women’s house in June this year. He then asked the lady to bring the painting for evaluations by experts. The painting titled “Christ Mocked,” is 24 Cm x 20 Cm in size.

This was the first time Cimabue’s painting went for auction. The discovery of the ancient painting has sent a wave of excitement among the art lovers across the globe.
