Keeping up with Bollywood’s new hobby of projecting history through movies, Ashutosh Gowariker’s new project, Panipat, seems to be the next big thing on the big screen. Starring Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles, the trailer of Panipat revisit a grand chapter in Maratha history.
As evident from the trailer, Panipat retells the story of the 1761’s battle of Panipat – also popularly known as the Third Battle of Panipat – fought between the Martha Empire and the invading Afghan forces.
For the portrayal, Arjun Kapoor dons the role of Martha leader Sadashiv Rao Bhau while Sanjay Dutt will be seen playing Ahmad Shah Abdali.
In the trailer, Sadashiv Rao Bhau has been showcased as a warrior who is chosen as the leader of Martha Army post the news of Ahmad Shah Abdali’s invasion reaches Delhi.
Meanwhile, the makers, drawing inspiration from Ranveer Singh’s Padmaavat role, have portrayed Sanjay Dutt as evil as possible.
Actress Kriti Sanon plays Sadashiv Rao Bhau’s second wife Parvati Bai, who accompanies him to the battlefield and plays a crucial role in assisting in the administration of the Maratha camp.
