After serious backlash on social media, Chinese brand, Vivo, had pulled out its IPL sponsorship leaving some shoes to be filled. And a host of companies, including Amazon, thereafter, have shown interest in bidding for IPL sponsorship.
The latest company that claims to be considering to bid for IPL’s sponsorship was Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved.
“We are considering the IPL title sponsorship for this year, since we want to give the Patanjali brand a global marketing platform,” Patanjali spokesperson SK Tijarawala told Economic Times.
Delayed due to the pandemic, the 2020 IPL season will commence from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates. This would be the second time when UAE will host the IPL. Last time UAE hosted IPL was back in 2014 during the Lok Sabha election.
After news of Patanjali joining the IPL sponsorship race broke out, Twitter users flooded the micro-blogging website with enough memes and jokes to make you laugh till you cry.
